Genive and Scott knew they had something special right away – at the beginning of their relationship they went on an eight-night canoe trip and had a great time together. The couple also learned they could do long distance – Scott studied abroad for a year while Genive spent time working in Northern Ontario. When the two were reunited, Scott took Genvive on a canoe trip to one of the beautiful spots they had encountered on their first canoe adventure years before, and proposed. The couple spent the following week camping, playing scrabble, drinking wine and eating popcorn -- elements that they then included in their big day!
Friends and family helped the Genive and Scott to create the perfect shabby-chic wedding celebration contributing everything from the venue to the cake and sweets. An outdoor ceremony was followed by lawn games then guests were invited to a reception in a family friend's barn decorated with twinkle lights and wild flowers. Genive and Scott incorporated a number of personalized elements into their reception, from the scrabble table numbers and clothespin display of escort cards to the canoe bar and bottles of Southern Comfort, which topped the reception tables.
