This adventurous couple, who became engaged on top of a waterfall while hiking Juan de Fuca Trail, planned an outdoor summer wedding with a fern motif to reflect their stunning Salt Spring Island surroundings. Katie loved how involved she was with the set-up of her wedding. "It was a labour of love done mostly by myself and my lovely sister-in-law," she admits. All of the flowers were hand-picked by Marjorie from Ruckle Park Farm who arranged all the fresh blooms in Mason jars. "She did the most lovely job, I couldn’t have been happier," says Katie.
Katie and Nathan's reception room at Beaver Point Hall had a woodsy feel with fern details and charming DIY accents and the groom's father's friend Mo, a retired chef, cooked an amazing spread for the couple's guests. "We were so lucky he did this for us and are forever grateful," says Katie.
While the ceremony and reception were filled with memorable moments, Katie admits that her favourite part of her wedding was some alone time spent with Nathan at the end of the night. "We lay down in the grass outside the hall together, watching the last guests head home then fell asleep under the stars together," explains Katie.
