A Rustic Forest Wedding On Vancouver Island

Amy and David met while volunteering with their church's youth group. Once Amy confessed the crush she had on David to a friend, nothing could keep the couple apart. "As I was moving across the country in a few short weeks, [my] thought that it would be safe to tell him. Needless to say he didn’t let the distance come between us, and we spent the first two years of our relationship on and off long distance, proving that those relationships really can work!" explains Amy. David popped the question during a trip to Toronto during a visit to help Amy move home, but his proposal was anything but ordinary. Amy's husband-to-be actually got down on one knee in a photo booth at one of the couple's favourite spots, The Steam Whistle Brewery. Amy and David exchanged vows on a summer afternoon at a stunning rustic forest wedding ceremony held at Starling Lane Winery. "As cliché as it sounds, my favorite memory was definitely be walking down the aisle towards my now-husband and seeing his expression," Amy explains. "After all of the hectic bustle, driving, decorating, and stress of the morning, I found it hard to really feel present in the moment until I saw him, and saw all of the love that he had written on his face. It made me remember that a wedding is a joining of two people’s souls, and that it isn’t dependent on how perfect the table centrepieces or my hair looked. His face and the tears in his eyes brought everything home."
