When they got engaged, Genevieve and Lee had differing opinions when it came to where they would tie the knot. Genevieve envisioned exchanging vows in Montreal, where she was born and raised, while Lee wanted a destination wedding, with a ceremony on a beach. The couple happily compromised and said their "I dos" at Le Pont Couvert, a restaurant in the town of La Conception, near Mont-Tremblant. "I may not have said 'I do' on my home turf, but the alternative was nothing short of spectacular," Genevieve shares.
When it came to wedding decor, Genevieve decided to go the DIY route with chalkboard signs, painted Mason jars and apple slice napkin rings. "I knocked out project after project!" says Genevieve.
Genevieve says one of her favourite wedding surprises was the gift she was given by her maid of honour. "It was a recorded video of my grandfather who could not attend the wedding—there was not a dry eye in the house!"
The couple also loved the food. "It exceeded our expectations," Genevieve says. "Everything, including the cocktail appetizers and the never-ending dessert table, blew us away."
The couple had Juno Award-winner Patrick Watson, a close friend, sing one of Genevieve's favourite songs at their reception. "As a wedding gift he performed an original version of “To Build A Home” with renowned guitar player Simon Angell," Genevieve says. "Everyone in the room just stopped to listen and appreciate the moment."
