Lauren and Ryan knew that planning an outdoor wedding could be complicated but they had no idea just how complicated. "Choosing an outdoor venue, we knew the risk we were taking but for some reason you never think it will be the rainiest week on record just before your big day in August!" exclaims Lauren. "Our wedding was on a Saturday and we spent all day Friday literally vacuuming up water out of the grass from inside the big tent where the festivities were to take place."
Luckily, when Saturday morning rolled around, the skies cleared up. "We were able to get married outside as planned, which was great as I think everyone was enjoying the sun after such a rainy week," says Lauren.
The couple chose a country theme for their reception to compliment their lovely farm venue. Simple decor and a natural colour palette highlighted the beauty of the Alberta countryside. "The tent where we held our reception turned out beautifully, with mini lights and hanging paper lanterns," says Lauren. "The centrepieces were wood discs we made from a felled tress, with a lantern on top and two Mason jars of flowers, all atop a burlap runner."
Lauren and Ryan admit that one of their favourite parts of the night was hitting the dance floor at their reception. "Ryan and I love dancing! We are not great at it but we always seem to have such a good time trying," says Lauren.
