A Royal Christmas Wedding in Toronto, Ontario
A magical holiday celebration was the perfect theme for Brodie and Garrett, who looked to Johanna Sharpe from Johanna Leigh Weddings & Events to bring their motif to life. “When we started this process I was fraught with indecision. I loved the natural elements of summer weddings and especially the opportunity to play with colour. For some reason I felt having a winter wedding meant we would lose both-but our planner Johanna expertly brought a colourful Christmas wedding to life. I am a New Years baby and Garrett and I both love to ski so this time of year has always felt magical. Once we were set on a date and decided to lean in to a holiday theme we were all in,” Brodie shares.
Boxwood wreaths, pops of fuchsia, a wooden sleigh used as a guestbook, ski-inspired stationery, were a handful of the details that were incorporated into the couples’ wedding venue at the Omni King Edward Hotel inside the Crystal Ballroom. Even the drinks were personalized to fit the cheery mood with custom cocktails dubbed “Merry Moore” greeting guests upon arrival. To cap the night off, Brodie and Garrett handed out santa hats to guests as they jammed out to Bruce Springsteens’ Santa Claus is Coming to Town. “Everyone was in the holiday spirit and it was such a joyful and beautiful evening for all,” the newlyweds recall.
