Karly and Matthew first met through a mutual friend. "During a group outing our friend forgot her ID and had to run home to grab it," explains Karly. "We had such a fun time just the two of us. We still question if she actually forgot her ID, or if she was secretly playing matchmaker."
It was in Ireland during a heat wave that Matt asked Karly to marry him. "He picked me up off my feet, kissed me, and when my feet touched the ground he asked me to marry him!" Karly gushes. They planned their romantic, vintage-themed wedding in beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. "The views were everything we could have imagined and more," says Karly.
The wedding day had a relaxed feel. "I remember just sitting on the patio, sipping mimosas and just enjoying the morning with my girls," Karly reflects. The highlight for the couple was their first look, which they did privately just before the ceremony. "It was such a great moment, we felt like it was just the two of us and it meant the world that we could soak it all in together before we got married." Karly says.
The couple's wedding theme revolved around vintage details and homemade touches. "We really wanted an outdoor wedding for both the ceremony and reception, and wanted to create a romantic feel," Karly explains. Chandeliers, bundles of lavender, and antique decor accents helped the couple to pull off their dream day.
