A Romantic & Rustic Late Summer Wedding in Manitoba

Amy and Connor chose a rustic and romantic vibe for their early September wedding day. Their choice of venue, Anderson’s Hitch N Post Ranch, not only fit their theme but is a spot close to their hearts as it is owned by Amy’s aunt and uncle Kyle and Louise Anderson (Kyle also served as the couple’s wedding officiant.).

“We were married on the property that’s been in our family for 35 years—the property my grandparents built a life on,” Amy says. “Many people put so much time and effort into finding the right venue. I felt like my wedding day was extra special because I didn’t need to go through that trouble, and I got to have my dream of getting married at the Hitch, which has been my home and an important part of who I am today.”

Amy says their venue for their wedding was just one of many, special elements of their day. She says the couple’s first look was a moment that tops her list of favourites. “I would not trade this beautiful moment for the world,” Amy shares. “It happened before the ceremony, and the look on Connor’s face when he turned around and saw me made me melt. We are proud parents of a 1.5-year-old boy, so for the year leading up to our wedding Connor had mostly only seen me in sweatpants with my hair up in a messy bun, always exhausted from long days of parenting, so going from zero to 100 was a big deal for me! “

The couple hosted 170 guests for their celebration, one that was decked with incredible flowers that Amy credits her amazing florist with helping to create their perfect aesthetic. “Connor and I are both minimalists, and the thought of picking out flowers really overwhelmed us.Broadway Florists helped us choose the most beautiful flowers that matched the bridesmaid dresses perfectly and were on point with our whole theme.”

Another special family moment for the bride she cites as making her day was her father-daughter dance. “Our family had a rough couple of months leading up to the wedding. My grandparents were in a car accident and my grandfather passed away and my grandma was in hospital. It took a big toll on my dad. We got to dance to “There Goes My Life” by Kenny Chesney, a song that my dad would always turn up on the radio and say, “It’s our song.” It was amazing to share a special moment with him on my big day.”
