When Erika and Nathan began planning their June wedding they wanted to make sure they created a comfortable, laid back atmosphere for their nearly 300 guests. "The most important element to us was for guests to mingle, let loose, and celebrate a wonderful day with us," Erika explains.
The couple used a soft colour palette of blush, cream and white to bring a romantic look to their lovely orchard venue then combined traditional and non-traditional wedding elements to make their celebration unique. "It was a worthwhile challenge to ensure that we mixed the right traditional elements, like having a more typical styled ceremony, and replaced others with things we love, such as apple pie instead of a wedding cake," says Erika.
Friends and family helped out with many of the celebration's DIY elements and all of the paper goods were created by the bride who owns Bueno Market, a stationery design company.
Erika says the dessert barn was one of the highlights of the reception. "The variety of cakes, other sweets, and fresh fruit from the orchard was such a wonderful way for us to treat our guests to a little something extra special," she explains.
At the end of the night the couple reflected on just how special their wedding day was. "As we sat on our school bus shuttle with our guests back to the hotel, we both looked at each other and agreed it was the best day ever," Erika remembers.
