Bonita and Gesnelson were engaged during the Christmas season of 2018. Instead of having the a traditional Christmas dinner at home with Gesnelson and his family, Bonita was told they were going to go out for dinner instead. “A few minutes prior to me arriving at the restaurant, Gesnelson called me and told me they decided to change locations and go to the restaurant where we had our first date,” Bonita shares. After arriving at the restaurant, she called Gesnelson, who told her to walk toward the restaurant’s boardwalk. “I was full of anxiety at this point; I walked over and saw poster board signs held by each one of his siblings—signs describing our love story and where it all began,” Bonita continues. “At the end, I saw a red carpet with him at the end, standing on a red heart, waiting for me, with candles, music and all.” Gesnelson got on one knee and proposed. “It was honestly the craziest moment of my life.”
The couple exchanged vows in front of 50 of their closest family and friends. Their simple wedding day was a memorable event that went smoothly. “There was never a point in time where I felt stressed or worried, which was something everyone always warned me about,” Bonita shares. “Everyone’s advice to really soak in the day and enjoy our time together really helped me not stress or worry.”
Bonita and Gesnelson shared their first dance to “You Are The Reason” by Callum Scott and Leona Lewis. “We chose this song because it exemplified the depths we’d go through for each other,” Bonita says. “We will do anything for each other, to ensure our relationship is at 100.”
