Sarah and Craig spent their first Christmas as a couple at Sarah's parents house. On Christmas morning they were opening presents and Sarah excused herself from the room. When she came back, Craig was down on one knee and asked her to marry him, "I said yes with messy hair, no make-up and while wearing deer antlers on my head," Sarah laughs.
When it came to wedding planning Sarah and Craig let their careers inspire their celebration. Craig is a lobster fisherman, so hosting a summer nautical themed celebration was a must and Sarah is a wedding planner, so she pulled out all the stops when it came to her blue, white and gold themed celebration.
The couple said "I do" on a schooner with two lobster boats attached filled with guests and a beautiful lighthouse in the background. The groom and his groomsmen helped the schooner's crew raise the sails, while the bride hid until their ocean destination was reached.
Sarah walked down the aisle to a modified version of Ingrid Michaelson's "Far Away," which is relevant since the song starts “I will live my life as a Lobsterman’s wife, on an island in the blue bay.”
Throughout their wedding, there were details everywhere to make it uniquely Sarah and Craig's special day. This included Scottish men in kilts, lobsters for dinner caught by the groom and his father, pies made by a local baker using locally-grown blueberries, fireworks and a song performed by the bride and groom with the band, which was one of Sarah's favourite moments from the day.
