Neighbours on the same floor of their condo building, Nicole and Mike would frequently run into each other in the hallway, on the elevator and while out walking their respective dogs. “After much encouragement from my friends, I worked up the courage to put a note in his truck window,” Nicole laughs. “We’ve been together ever since.” The pair were engaged in late December 2011 and immediately started planning their intimate nature-inspired wedding celebration (they hosted just 45 guests) for the following June. They decided on a tree-themed motif for their nature-inspired wedding, and that was reflected in everything from the stationery, to the decor and the whimsical cake. Though their first twirl as husband and wife to “Fool For You” by the John Butler Trio (one of their favourite bands) ranks high as one of the day’s highlights, Nicole says her top moment was definitely saying “I do.” “When the minister finally announced us husband and wife, that was incredible!”
