A Nature-Inspired Black-Tie Wedding in Ottawa

Brooklyn and Kevin met through mutual friends, with Brooklyn being from Brockville, Ontario and Kevin from Vancouver. "We met in Brockville, where Kevin was visiting his friends for a few days, and after he left, he decided he wanted to pursue me from Vancouver," Brooklyn shares. "I was hesitant at first, and gave classic 'one word responses.' Despite this, he decided to take a chance and come down to Brockville for an entire summer. After an amazing summer together, plans were put in place for Kevin to make his big move from Vancouver to Brockville!

The couple's theme was a classic black-tie celebration with romantic, natural touches, incorporating ivory, gold and shades of green into their event. "I always loved the look of outdoor forest weddings, but also classic black tie weddings," Brooklyn says. "I realized that instead of having to choose one stile over another, why not combine them?"

A favourite moment from the day was the bride and groom's first look, which had a few hiccups because of the rain. "It was Friday, at rush hour so we ended up in heavy downtown Ottawa traffic," Brooklyn shares. "Kevin and the groomsmen were waiting for about an hour, and he thought I was standing him up. When I finally got to the location, I saw him and the rest of my family and bridal party there waiting, I felt all the stress melt off of me. I walked up and tapped Kevin on the shoulder, and I will never forget his face—it was a look of love and pure relief!"
