A Modern, Elegant Summer Wedding in Vancouver

When it came to planning their early August wedding, Elaine and Catalin completely entrusted their amazing vendors Bepoke Décor and Postmark Flowers to bring the dream day to life. “We are two very Type A people so for us giving up control was a big step!” Elaine laughs. “We let our décor and floral vendors lead with direction from our wedding planner Gordon from Petite Pearl Events. We gave her a few pictures of things we gravitated towards—blacks, golds and greenery—and everything came together beautifully from there."

Elaine describes the vibe of their wedding as bold, moody and modern. “We fell in love with Bespoke Decor’s tan couch named Rosie—our only ask for our wedding was that they incorporate Rosie in the design,” she laughs. “The whole set-up was a complete surprise to us right up until our reveal half an hour before the wedding. We could not be happier with the outcome!”

The couple decided on a first look on the pier overlooking downtown Vancouver. “It was just the two of us and our photographer,” Elaine says. “Despite it being a public space, it was an incredibly intimate moment. Seeing each other before the ceremony allowed us to have that one moment of serenity and calmness before we shared our day with everyone else.

The couple’s 120 guests were treated to an event full of fun and emotion. A guest of honour at the ceremony was the couple’s dog Jax—Cat’s mom was supposed to walk him down the aisle but because he was squirming with excitement, she decided to carry him, which made for an awkward and hilarious moment Elaine recalls. Another star attraction of the night was the couple’s Earnest Ice Creamstand. “Who could say no to whisky hazelnut and London fog ice cream? We wanted a fun dessert that showcased some Vancouver eats, and Earnest was the way to go.”
