A Luxe Navy & Gold Wedding in Montreal

For their September wedding in Montreal, Emily and Jason threw an opulent party for 300 guests at the chic Gare Windsor. “Our primary wedding colours were navy and gold,” Emily says.“I decided early on that the bridesmaids would wear navy dresses and Leslie, our wedding planner, had suggested using navy as our overall theme, which we were weren’t sure about at first. We quickly learned how neutral and rich navy was and discovered all the design possibilities. We wanted our venue to feel luxe while still romantic and inviting.”

The couple knew amazing florals were also going to be an integral part of their day as they wanted the mood to be enchanting. “We knew we wanted a lot of flowers, Emily shares. “Our florist Paul is a genius—he knew exactly how to execute our vision, in which we wanted our own romantic forest but didn’t want the room to look overdone. We wanted the focal point to be the dance floor, which we highlighted with a large floral and chandelier arrangement.”

The couple shares one of the best and most memorable moments of their day was signing their wedding contract. “We had a small ceremony with close family and friends prior to walking down the aisle, where we signed our wedding certificates,” Emily smiles. “It was one of the most special memories we have from the day—there wasn’t a dry eye in the room”

Another fond remembrance Emily shares was discovering that their wedding rings were missing from their wedding ceremony. “Midway into our wedding ceremony we realized no one had brought the rings down the aisle!My brother had to sneak out of the ceremony to grab them in the back room while the string quartet played an impromptu song. He managed to make it back before the end of the song and we were so relieved. In the end, not all the guests picked up on what had happened, but it was definitely a moment we will remember forever!”
