After becoming engaged on a snowy December day, Michelle Coates and Jordan Mather thought it only fitting to host a winter wedding in Ottawa. Guests were wowed by how this couple, who met through friends at a Canada Day party, transformed their venue, the National Gallery of Canada, with candlelight and breathtaking cascades of orchids and calla lilies. The couple exchanged vows overlooking the city as the sun set, then guests were treated to a reception filled with unique personalized details. "Rather than a guest book, we chose a wish tree where our guests could hang their pearls of wisdom and well wishes," explains Michelle. "We also displayed photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days at the entrance to our venue so our guests could have a sneak peak at where we came from." After the couple danced for their first time as husband and wife to "Harvest Moon" by Neil Young, delicious cupcakes covered in silver snowflakes were served alongside and fresh cookies, baked with love by the couple's three grandmothers -- the perfect final touch to this lovely winter wedding in Ottawa.
