Dan upped the ante on an already romantic trip to Italy when he spontaneously proposed to Laneil. “Even without a ring, the right moment came. The sun was setting over the ocean, and we had wine, cheese, olives and fresh bread—Dan definitely knew the keys to my heart,” Laneil smiles. For their Victorian vintage-themed wedding, Laneil and Dan were inspired by their environment. “We wanted our guests to feel like they were in the comfort of their own homes, so we had a beautifully landscaped backyard, which was surrounded by trees for privacy,” Laneil explains. The reception took place in tents, which were lined with fairy lights, and the bride and groom both added personal touches. Laneil decided to decorate the ladies’ washroom to resemble a Victorian powder room. With its antique chandelier, rocking chair and vanity stocked with lotions, perfumes, fresh mints and candles, “It was the most luxurious biffy I have ever seen,” Laneil laughs. Dan couldn’t resist having a beer canoe and “the late-night hot dog cart was such a hit that two of our vegetarian friends even indulged,” Laneil recalls.
