Sandrine and Oliver tied the knot early last September at Pointe du Moulin, a historical site located on the tip of Perrot Island, on the Saint-Lawrence River with a spectacular view of the island of Montreal. The enchanting location represents another historical event related to the couple as it was where the bride’s parents had their wedding photos taken 30 years prior. “It was also where we had one of our first dates,” added the bride.
The couple met thanks to Sandrine’s mother who arranged for them to meet at the Montreal Wine Show. “Oliver worked for the SAQ (Quebec’s liquor corporation) and was one of my Mom’s clients,” Sandrine recalls. “With another one of Mom’s clients (who happened to be a friend of Oliver’s), they secretly planned a blind date for us to meet. I was studying to be a sommelier, so it was the perfect pretext for them to get us to meet at an industry event. We quickly bonded over our shared passion for wine and travel.”
When asked to describe a favourite moment of their big day, the bride answered: “Our first look. It was a special time alone with our son and it helped relieve some of the stress. It happened at a friend’s secluded sugar shack, in the middle of a forest. The result was magical. We also have fond memories from the ceremony. Oliver cried when he saw me walk toward the alter. A family member married us and he made it touching, funny and tasteful.”
Since the newlyweds had to significantly reduce their guest list because of the pandemic, the dinner reception was able to take place on the terrace of Le Charleville, a fine-dining restaurant in Vaudreuil-Dorion. The evening continued with guests dancing to the music of DJ Louise Arsenault, interspersed with touching toasts. “We laughed, we cried. It was an evening filled with genuine love and emotion,” Sandrine reminisced.
