Denim and sundresses may not be your traditional wedding attire, but for Kelsey and Jeff the summery clothing fit their celebration to a T. “From the beginning we always said we wanted a wedding that was a silly, fun lake party, and everything in our theme supported that,” Kelsey explains. To fit their cool and casual motif, Kelsey chose to decorate their reception with sunflowers and daisies, which were found everywhere from the bridal bouquet to Mason jar arrangements—she even decorated the altar with handmade daisies (crafted from Styrofoam, Q-tips and watercolour paper). Guests got in on the action too and were dressed in gingham prints, cowboy boots and quirky bow ties to fit the duo’s fun vibe. “Even the food suited our kitschy theme,” Kelsey laughs. “We had everything from a gourmet hot dog menu and maple popcorn to peanut butter marshmallow bars—it was very us.”
