For Jessica and Geoffrey, a DIY backyard wedding was the perfect way to express their laid-back personalities. “We each have our own personal sense of style, so it was important that our backyard wedding reflected that,” Jessica says. To that end, the duo decked out Geoffrey’s parents’ yard with shabby chic elements such as tin can lanterns, lawn games, mismatched patterns and “pre-loved” items from thrift stores. “Planning the whole thing ourselves was fun because it allowed us to have free reign on everything,” Jessica shares. “The day ended up being exactly as we wanted it, and every second was so much fun!” The pair’s grand exit—guests formed a path with sparklers to escort them to a waiting limousine—was a particularly memorable moment.
