Cole and Greg, who first met at Starbucks on a blind date, became engaged while snowshoeing in Kananaskis. "When we got to the top of the hill, Greg pulled the ring out of his pocket and proposed," Cole shares.
The two love birds broke their wedding day jitters by getting ready for the event together. "Getting dressed together was the best decision we made that day. I could look over at him and we would smile at each other and I would feel focused again. Given how nervous we were, I was really proud of how well we worked as a team," Cole says.
From the beginning Cole says their wedding was a whirlwind. "My kilt barely made it to Canada in time and Greg forgot his tux at home," says Cole. "Luckily his sister was passing through Calgary on her way to the wedding and was able to sneak into our house and bring it to him."
The couple chose the The Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff as their venue to ensure all of their guests had an unforgettable experience. "We figured that when our family and friends have travelled a long way to share our day with us, they’d enjoy having a world-class vacation destination experience at the same time," Cole explains. "We couldn’t have found a more awe-inspiring backdrop to exchange vows in front of."
For Cole and Greg, choosing a unique theme for their wedding day was very important. "Greg and I both love art deco, so it was a natural fit and easy for us to agree on a Great Gatsby theme. Even though everything looked luxurious, the theme was so easy to budget for, as well as being incredibly versatile," Cole says. The couple's reception was filled with extravagant gold, white and black details. Towering white hydrangea and lily centrepieces were displayed on vintage pedestals while gilded place settings and art deco adorned table tops. I was speechless. It was incredible to see how the simple décor we chose worked so well against such an immense landscape," says Cole.
