A Gorgeous Modern Romantic Wedding in Vaughan, Ontario

Brittany and Riel were engaged in Central Park in New York City. "It was an extremely cold December afternoon," Brittany recalls. "We went to New York right after Christmas because I have always wanted to be in New York during the holidays." Riel did not have a plan for the proposal, but instead was waiting for the perfect moment to get down on one knee. "The perfect moment ended up being between the bow bridge and the fountain in Friends," Brittany shares. "We took our engagement photos by the Friends fountain, which is still to this day one of our favourite TV shows."

The couple wanted their wedding to have a romantic, modern and organic vibe. "We had soft, warm neutrals, pops of burgundy and dark plums with black," Brittany says. "We both wanted the room to be romantic and dramatic, which worked very well with the space."

An intimate ceremony at the chapel of The Doctor's House was followed by a reception filled with deep and dramatic decor, including beautiful flowers from Patchouli Design. The couple wanted to steer away from some traditions, for example, entering the reception room with their guests. "We opted not to have a grand entrance, and this left some guests confused," Brittany explains. "But doing this allowed us to mix and mingle with our guests at their tables as they were taking their seats, and extended our cocktail hour!"
