Right from the very beginning, Jessica and Curtis clicked. "I guess you could say I liked Curtis Armstrong from the start," Jessica remembers.
The two talked about getting engaged for quite sometime before it finally happened during a trip to California. “Curtis walked me into a boutique jewellery shop that he had researched beforehand and said, ‘choose one,’” Jessica says.
Both Jessica and Curtis agreed that the goal of their wedding day was to ensure that guests felt relaxed, had fun, ate well, and danced until they couldn't dance any longer.
The couple decided to have their celebration at Evermore, a new venue that wasn't even built when they booked it. "When we finally saw the finished product, even Curtis was speechless. It is breathtaking," Jessica remembers.
As part of the reception, Jessica's mother wanted to highlight their indigenous background by performing a traditional dance. This turned out to be one of the best moments of the day. "Unfortunately we could not find the right song in time so my mom asked the DJ, Steve, to play one of her favourite songs, 'Moves Like Jagger,' and started the traditional dance moves. My family quickly joined in. Then our friends. Soon the entire dance floor was engaged in a traditional indigenous dance to 'Moves Like Jagger,'" Jessica laughs.
Another noteworthy part of the day was the couple's unique idea to have a picture of each guest that would act as place cards. On the inside of each card was a personal note to the guest. "It was a great talking piece and everyone seemed pleased! No one left their card behind," Jessica says.
