A Dreamy Destination Wedding In Costa Rica
Amanda and Jonathan chose the Dreams Las Mareas Resort & Spa as the place for their dream wedding in February 2020—after all, Costa Rica is where Jonathan had popped the question in an intimate and lavish proposal two years earlier.
The two university sweethearts knew that Costa Rica, with its vibrant and colourful f lora and fauna, would be the perfect backdrop for their nuptials. “We purposely chose navy for the bridesmaids to highlight their tropical bouquets, which featured vivid orange, red and yellow blooms as well as green tropical plants like monstera deliciosa and palms,” Amanda says.
At the heart of the wedding decor was a stunning ceremonial arch surrounded by lush tropical florals. Fresh flowers also took centre stage on the elegantly laid wooden harvest tables. “We loved the bright colours that reflected the beauty of our beach venue and the landscape of Costa Rica,” Amanda explains.
On their wedding day, Amanda and Jonathan were looking forward to the big reveal, which they decided to share with their family and attendants at the stunning beachfront resort. “Our loved ones were able to experience the tears, love and laughter with us during this romantic moment.” Amanda says Amanda.
The spectacular setting—complete with a lush, tree-lined path along the beach— provided privacy for the special reveal, which photographer Maciej Bogusz captured in a series of fabulous and emotional candid shots. In keeping with the breezy boho theme, the bridal party walked out to an acoustic rendition of “Island in the Sun” by Weezer, performed by singers Jesse and Steph of the wedding band Pinky Guaro.
To kick off the reception, the couple’s wedding planner suggested that they share a celebratory shot with their 60 guests. The shot glasses were embossed with “Take a shot, we tied the knot,” along with their names and wedding date, as a keepsake of the party in paradise. During the first dance, Amanda and Jonathan surprised guests with a magnificent fireworks display, while the band played in the background. “It was such a magical moment.” Seeing the sky lit up over our beach reception and the look of pure joy on our guests’ faces was absolutely fabulous!”
