This country couple embraced their farm location wholeheartedly to create the DIY rustic wedding of their dreams—complete with a quirky wheelbarrow theme. “We had wheelbarrows filled with drinks, and the bridal party arrived at the reception in wheelbarrows,” Annamieke shares. “Their entrance was definitely one of my favourite moments of the day,” she recalls. Appropriately, guests entertained themselves by participating in wheelbarrow races while Annamieke and Aaron posed for pictures. Following that excitement, the couple’s friends and family settled down for dinner at tables set up in the middle of the field. All the food was homemade, including blueberry and apple pies made by the bride’s sister that were served in lieu of wedding cake. Looking back, Annamieke sums up her wedding as, “one fun, hot, summer, wheelbarrow racin’, BBQin’, antique chic, family and farm-filled day!”
