Greg may not have had Ashley on his arm for their high-school prom, but it was that event that planted a seed for future romance. “Greg asked me to prom, but I already had a date,” Ashley shares. “We were friends and in 2008 and we were both moving west, so he helped my friend and I move our things to Ontario. It was quite a road trip and we’ve been together ever since.” The pair married at a DIY apple orchard wedding in Prince Edward Island. Ashley notes the weather was less than ideal for her ourdoor DIY apple orchard wedding, but it was actually what made the day extra-memorable. “It was pouring rain as I came down the aisle and all our guests were soaked under umbrellas—it was the most amazing moment.” Keeping with the natural theme of their wedding of this DIY apple orchard wedding, the pair sent guests home with tiny tree favours, which also served as centrepieces. “We loved that everyone would go home after our party and plant a tree!” Ashley smiles.
