A Colourful Lakeside Wedding In Cottage Country

Gabriel and Lauren weren't sure if the fall weather would accommodate the outdoor ceremony they envisioned, but their October wedding day was even more perfect than they had imagined. "Our ceremony took place outdoors just as the sun was starting to set," Lauren shares. "It took my breath away to be facing two flights of stone stairs, the view of the lake, the chuppah, and 160 close friends and family members wrapped in Hudson’s Bay blankets that we placed on their chairs to keep them warm," Lauren recalls.

The couple wanted to enhance the natural setting of the wedding space and highlight the fall foliage, so they chose jewel-toned shades. "We were in love with the idea of a see-through tent because we knew it would be essential in showcasing the outdoor space at my parents’ cottage," Lauren says.

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the cocktail area, where they were served signature fall-themed cocktails made by bartender Oliver Stern of Toronto Temperance Society and luscious bites from Toben Food by Design. "The food was delicious—my guests are still talking about it to this day!" Lauren laughs.

The party kicked off with a traditional Hora (dance) followed by various speeches and dancing. "I even took a twirl with my 90-year-old grandparents," Lauren smiles.

Later in the evening, friends and family joined the couple for a sparkler photo op and indulged in s'mores for a sweet ending to an idyllic day.
