Caroline and Matt definitely met in an unconventional way. Caroline lived in Southern British Columbia and worked in Washington State, so she crossed the border everyday. Matt was a customs officer at the border and couldn't help but strike up a conversation with her.
The couple's bicycle-themed wedding day was equally as unique as their introduction. "This theme seemed like the perfect fit since we own about 10 bicycles between the two of us," says Caroline. "To make this theme a success, my husband looked for some seriously awesome bicycles as main décor elements. We were able to rent a tandem bike from Vintage Origami, a wedding décor company based in Kelowna. The rest of the bikes came from a friend's collection. We even had a Triumph bicycle from the 1940’s! The bikes were placed throughout the venue and the groom and his groomsmen also rode to the aisle in style on four of them." Bicycles were also incorporated into everything from the seating chart to the table numbers, which Caroline designed herself.
"It was a beautiful party where all of our friends, from police officers to tattoo artists, French and English Canadians alike relaxed, shared some laughter, and witnessed the most special moment of our lives!" Caroline reminisces.
