The bride’s uncle and grandfather, both architects in Windsor, did a beautiful freehand sketch of the church where Krysten and Cory’s wedding was to be held. “Our stationery designer had the sketch pressed in gold foil on our invitations, making the invitations very special to us,” explains the bride.
Krysten’s favourite part of their wedding day? “Walking down the aisle during the ceremony as a newly married couple and seeing our family and friends in the church pews. It was such a happy moment.” For the groom, it was when he saw his fiancé walking down the aisle toward him. They also recall enjoying the moment when they looked around the candlelit reception room at their friends and family during dinner.
Another element the bride loved was her wedding gown: “I loved my Monique Lhuillier dress! I didn’t have a specific vision of what I wanted in a dress, but I was drawn to gowns with minimal detailing. The moment I saw my dress and tried it on, I knew it was the one.”
The newlyweds chose a classic neutral colour palette for their big day. “For our reception, held on the top floor of Caesars Windsor, the theme was contemporary romantic with a colour palette of ivory, beige, white, black and gold,” shares the bride. “The venue itself has a modern industrial feel with concrete floors and floor-to-ceiling windows. With its panoramic view of the Detroit skyline and waterfront, it didn’t need much in terms of decor. The room was filled with candles and white garden roses. The welcome table, also filled with candles, featured photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days.
In keeping with the classy style of both the bride’s gown and their wedding decor, a friend of the couple, Shelby Palmer, of Shelby’s Sweet Shoppe, made an understated and elegant five-tier wedding cake. “But most importantly, it was delicious,” ensures the bride.
