A Classic Blush, Burgundy and Gold Autumn Wedding in Toronto

For their October 2019 wedding celebration, Elyse and Cody wanted to fully embrace and celebrate the autumn season, one that holds a special place in their hearts. “We wanted to capture the spirit of when we first met and complement that with the time of year our wedding took place, both in late fall,” Elyse says. “Soft romantic palettes brought to mind light pink and blush while burgundy represented the bold colours of the season and gold was the perfect accent to it all.”

The couple hosted 130 guests for their wedding at the Glenerin Inn, a gorgeous venue they share is an absolute hidden gem. “One of our guests described our venue as one of the most beautiful wedding locations they had ever been to,” Elyse says. “The surrounding trees were breathtaking for our fall wedding and it truly captured the spirit of our magical day.”

The venue, spectacular weather and seasonal colours of Elyse and Cody’s wedding day were just a few of the memorable moments. Elyse shares the moment after their first kiss during their wedding ceremony was another to remember. “After our first kiss as a married couple, the minister announced guests should exchange offerings of peace for the ‘peace be with you’ greeting. Normally, people shake hands with the people around them for a few minutes; however, our family and friends took it to another level. Everyone started to move around the church exchanging hugs and kisses. Our families become one in that moment. The “peace be with you” went on for over 10 minutes and actually got so out of hand that the minister had to call everyone back—it was the most endearing and wonderful moment.”

Elyse says as the couple’s wedding day stretched over two days, she loved the fact she had the chance to wear two dream dresses. “My ceremony dress was off-the-shoulder and accessorized with a cape, which made me feel so special,” she smiles. “It was grand and had lots of lace and some sparkle. My reception dress was a sleek, halter dress that gave me Meghan Markle vibes. Both dresses made me feel confident and beautiful for our special weekend. Cody is also a fashion lover and was excited to wear two suits. His ceremony tux had a classic white jacket and he looked like James Bond. His reception suit was a unique and beautiful blue, which complemented the fall colours perfectly.”
