A Cheery, Lemon Yellow Wedding In Parry Sound, Ontario

Heather and Scott dated for 11 years before Scott popped the question. It was Heather's birthday and she planned on visiting Scott in Guelph where he was to work an OHL game that night. She met him at his hotel where she was surprised with a room full of roses, champagne and Scott on one knee with a gorgeous ring.

Heather saved some of the rose petals from the night she and Scott became engaged and sprinkled them under the wedding trellis at their ceremony venue.

To spite the fact that storm clouds moved in just as the couple was about to say their "I dos", no one in attendance seemed to mind. "It starting to rain the moment I started to walk down the aisle," Heather explains. "The thunder crashed as we said our vows and the downpour started right afterwards. Watching the five groomsmen huddle under one tiny umbrella was hilarious. Not one person tried to run inside, everyone stayed with us in the pouring rain. Watching 100 of your closest family and friends be that supportive is pretty awesome."

The cheery atmosphere of the day was carried though in the wedding's decor, which featured yellow accents and loads of lemon details. "I had lemons in all the flower vases from the cottage to the reception hall. It was a fun way of getting more yellow out there," says Heather. "We also had lemonade stands at both the ceremony and reception, lemons down the aisle way and lemon-flavoured candy at the late night candy bar." Since hockey is such a big part of Scott's life, the wedding favours were personalized hockey pucks with the bride and groom's names and wedding date on them.

"My tag line now that it poured rain on our day is 'You make me happy, when skies are grey,'" Heather laughs.
