Heading abroad to teach for a year in Australia was an exciting, yet scary move for Brooke. Lucky for her, it didn’t take long to meet someone that made her feel like she’d found a home away from home. Brooke was placed at the same school as Mitch, and the two immediately hit it off and began dating. “We hadn’t really talked about what would happen once I had to go home, but a few months before my departure date, Mitch had told me he was going to buy a one way ticket, leaving behind his job, family and friends to move to Canada. That was when I knew we would be together forever,” says Brooke.
While spending a relaxing weekend at Brooke’s family cottage, Mitch pulled off a surprise proposal. As the pair was on the dock, prepping to enjoy a swim and a cold beverage, Mitch set up a camera to take pictures of their afternoon. As the two posed for a “picture,” Mitch started telling Brooke how his life was a lot different than he thought it would be but how he would never regret moving to Canada. “He told me how happy he was and that no matter where we ended up living, it would be okay because we would be together. Then he pulled out the ring and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him,” recalls Brooke. Meanwhile, the camera caught the entire engagement!
Blue Mountain served as the stunning backdrop for the couple’s romantic vintage-inspired wedding. Brooke and Mitch said their “I do’s” under a gorgeous rustic arbour created using twisted branches and bundles of flowers. The soft aesthetics of the day were offset by antique décor details, such as an iron lanterns and a vintage typewriter. The couple were thrilled with how their décor turned out. “Apart from marrying the love of my life, the best moment was first walking into our reception room and seeing the outstanding job Vicki and Posh Beyond Events had done in bringing our vision to life. It took my breath away!” says Brooke.
