Leah and Steve, who have known one another since high school, decided on an island celebration for their big day. "Being lakeside for our ceremony just made sense, Steve proposed at the lake and bringing that same atmosphere to our ceremony felt right," explains Leah. "I loved being on the island for our ceremony so everyone felt like they 'traveled' a little ways to get there."
The couple and their guests took tiny ferry boats to the island, enjoying the sunny summer day and laid back atmosphere created by the calm waters. "I just wanted everyone to take their time and enjoy the day together, the weather helped a lot with that," says the bride.
Guests were shuttled back for the reception, which featured the same relaxed vibe with rustic DIY decor. "The reception was set up just the way I thought it would look," says Leah. "Steve and I had strung the lanterns together, I had made table runners and my family helped decorate recycled Mason jars for the centerpieces. It felt perfect for us," she smiles.
