Who says it has to be the guy that proposes? After dating for a year and a half, Sylvie planned to pop the question to her beau, Jerry. Her original idea of a romantic day in Banff was thwarted by a storm, so instead she opted for an intimate dinner out in Calgary. Sylvie had the all-important question, Will you marry me?, engraved on a ring, which was a good thing since her nerves kicked in at the last moment! “I was so nervous and thought this is why guys are supposed to do it!” laughs Sylvie. Jerry immediately broke into a smile and said, “Yes, of course I will! Didn’t you think I was going to ask?”
The couple crafted a gorgeous 1950's-themed wedding day, with the bride, an interior decorator, designing many of the elements herself, from collaborating on the design of her dress, to styling the thrifted décor and flowers. Sylvie and Jerry said their I dos with the stunning mountain views of Canmore, Alberta as their backdrop.
Taking their gorgeous wedding shots in the lush fields with friends and having an authentic vintage 1951 Ford Businessman’s Coup made the day extra special.
For their wedding song, the pair chose "Valentine" by Kina Grannis, a song that had a special meaning and memory for them. Jerry had played the song for Sylvie after she returned home from a long trip, saying it expressed all his feelings for her since they had met, and asked her to be his valentine.
