{Badrutt's Palace Hotel}
This summer I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful country of Switzerland. It was my first time to Europe and definitely won't be my last. What struck me most about Switzerland was how beautiful the landscape is. The snow-capped mountains (yes, even in summer) literally made you think you're looking like a painting. Then you have cute villages with gingerbread-like homes, pristine lakes, and bustling cities (like Zurich and Basel). I didn't have the chance to visit the luxe and legendary destination of St. Moritz, known for its skiing, as much as it is known for its notable guests (think royalty and celebrities), but think it would be a perfect honeymoon destination. So where do the rich and famous stay? Badrutt's Palace Hotel is one of those places A-listers flock to and have been for decades. Opened in 1896 by Caspar Badrutt (the hotel is still in the Badrutt family today), it was and still is the most exquisite place to stay in St. Moritz. Most recently the hotel underwent a $44 million renovation, specifically updating the wellness area, including the spa rooms, pool, fitness centre and restaurant. The resort is only open seven months out of the year, and its high season being, of course, the winter. They have guests who have come back year after year, so frequently that their exclusive guests get embroidered napkins and housecoats with their initials on them -- talk about special treatment! Once you're checked in, the great thing is you really don't have to leave the property. There are seven restaurants on site, three bars, a fitness centre, spa, and the lake and ski slopes are literally at your door. It's definitely a winter playground for any of your skiers or snowboarders out there, but I saw Switzerland in the summer, as it's just as beautiful (and you'll get a better band for your buck too!).
