It’s been widely publicized that the Duchess of Cambridge is a huge fan of Anne of Green Gables so a trip to P.E.I. was obviously a must for her (Catherine and William will visit both Charlottetown and Summerside). The Gentle Island is Canada’s smallest and greenest province, with an area of just over 5,600 square kilometers and a population of 141,000. From the moment you arrive on P.E.I. the gorgeous landscapes—pastoral fields, rolling hills, red and white sand beaches—will captivate you. With Catherine in mind, the provinces most famous region is Cavendish, the setting for Lucy Maude Montgomery’s famous book. Last summer, we headed for P.E.I. for a shoot where we snapped this gorgeous pic right outside of Lucy Maude’s house—click here to see the entire shoot.

Located merely 100 metres from the beach, you can spend the afternoon strolling the sand dunes, or rent some bikes to venture farther a field. The inn’s proprietors will even pack you a picnic lunch.
