J’Adore Quebec

J’Adore Quebec

I’ve been on the move quite a bit of late, all in the name of honeymoon research for you dear readers. The latest stop on my tour: Quebec City. My WB colleague Jennifer Haskett and I were here for four days last week and quickly discovered why it’s Canada’s most romantic destination. Set to celebrate its 400th anniversary next year, our country’s oldest city boasts an unforgettable backdrop along the shores of the St. Lawrence River and an old-world European feel we instantly fell in love with.

J’Adore Quebec

The winding cobble streets, the amazing food, the super-cute boutiques and the warmth and charm of the locals made our stay unforgettable. The hotels here are amazing, too. We bunked down at the swish Auberge Sainte Antoine (aubergesaintantoine.com), located in the heart of the city’s Old Port and built on one of the areas richest archeological sites. This hotel is absolutely brilliant—modern, luxurious, unique, quiet, completely unpretentious—and the award-winning in-house restaurant Panache is incroyable! The other luxe place to stay is, of course, the iconic Fairmont Le Château Frontenac (Fairmont.com), a spectacular castle hotel, boasting sweeping views of the city and the St. Lawrence (we had high tea at the Chateau and if you visit, please make it a MUST). Look for a feature story about honeymooning in Quebec on the site in the coming weeks.
