Ah London. One of the world’s most electric cities and certainly one of my favourite places on earth. It is absolutely on my top 10 honeymoon hit list. Brimming with style, history and pageantry, London is all about old-world romance and there is no place that better encapsulates that than The Savoy, one of the world’s most storied and luxe hotels. This Sunday (10/10/10) the Fairmont managed hotel is reopening after closing in 2007 for at tip-to-toe restoration. Established in 1889, the hotel has 268 guest rooms and suites (many of which overlook the Thames) and boasts some incredible Edwardian and Art Deco design, all of which has been refreshed for 2010 by designer Pierre Yves Rochon. It took a crew of more than 1,000 artists, craftsmen and women to bring The Savoy back to it's original splendour. Over the years the hotel has been home to a host of celebrities from Charlie Chaplin, to Frank Sinatra, Maria Callas and Claude Monet (the new Savoy has nine-themed suites inspired by such famous faces). I'm planning a visit to Londontown in 2011 and a trip to The Savoy is on my must list. If you’re considering a London honeymoon, splash out and stay a night (or a few) at this spectacular property.
