Hidden Hotel Treasure: The Ivy at Verity

  |   By Alison McGill

Did you know there is a taste of European boutique hotel perfection smack in the heart of Toronto? The Ivy at Verity is a trés petite gem of a hotel located on Queen Street East, which I recently had the pleasure of calling home for three nights and in a word, the experience was divine (honestly, I can’t rave enough about it!). Tucked away in Verity, a 55,000 square foot women’s club, The Ivy was opened in early 2009 and has just four rooms—to say the experience here is intimate and ultra-personal is an understatement. The rooms are incredibly spacious and airy, each individually decorated, all equally plush and luxurious. All rooms are outfitted with your choice of pillows, heavenly Hastens beds, Italian linens, Bulgari toiletries and aromatic bath salts (my bath included citrus, lavender and rosemary). I stayed in Room Three, which featured luxe turquoise wallpaper, an incredible toile headboard on my bed and a bathroom that was as big as my kitchen complete with a huge soaker tub and walk-in shower. Each morning I had a thoroughly Parisian brekkie waiting for me—breakfast tea, pain au chocolates, fresh fruit and museli. For dinner, room service is available from George, the acclaimed resto located in the building which is also another component of Verity. In addition to George, Verity is home to Sweetgrass Spa and Sweetgrass Flowers—all of these elements combined make Verity an amazing place to hold a wedding in the city. You can have your spa pampering at Sweetgrass Spa; find your florals; throw a fantastic party with incredible cuisine at George; then spend your first night as Mr. & Mrs. at The Ivy. I highly recommend. For more information about weddings at Verity, click here.
