Classic tapered candlesticks are having a moment. They add elegance and warmth to any tablescape and allow you to play with interesting decor pieces and floral configurations to create a stylish and ambient mood for your party.
We spoke to Amna Rather, creative director of Lemon Truffle Designs, to learn some beautiful and creative ways to incorporate these simple candlesticks in to your wedding decor and create maximum impact.
Why is the classic tapered candlestick back in such a big way?
"Romantic, simple and clean, tapered candlesticks are a timeless classic. As more couples are now leaning towards a more simplistic and modern design aesthetic for their event, tapered candles make a great choice in helping create that ambiance. We have also seen tapered candles pop up in interior design magazines this past year and they were not only used for tabletop design but also on coffee and side tables."
How do they add mood and ambiance to a tablescape?
"I just find tall tapered candles so sexy and dramatic! Because of their height, tapered candles add height and drama to tables and never look overdone in comparison to pillar candles which take up a lot of visual space on a tablespace. Tapers can have a variety of looks depending on how they are used. For a more modern look, try using black tall tapered candles in a glass or sculptural holder and for that old time vintage feel place it in a soft aged brass holder."
What are your favourite ways to use taper candles in a wedding decor set up?
"For weddings and events, we love pairing up candles with florals on a table to create a warm and romantic look. For more drama, we use them in tall candelabras or repeat different sizes on a table for interest and they look beautiful once lit at night. Tapered candles come in a multitude of colours and holders and can be sourced for any theme .If you are looking for a more upscale ambiance for your event, tapered candles are always a beautiful and elegant option."
