On Friday, May 11, Weddingbells hosted a high tea in celebration of the upcoming nuptials of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The event, held at the One King West Hotel, welcomed key partners in the wedding industry including bridal designers, boutique owners, media influencers, wedding planners and advertisers. Guests enjoyed DAVIDsTEA and a variety of delicious nibbles including scones, tea sandwiches and macarons provided by One King West Hotel. The Grand Banking Hall was beautifully decorated with floral centerpieces by Quince Flowers, Union Jack buntings and confetti from eBay Canada, and stunning tableware from Chair-man Mills, Royal Albert and Sweet Bee Tea Party.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted with Markle Sparkle and Very Merry Harry welcome mimosas, made with Ocean Spray and Ruffino Prosecco. Shortly after the tea and treats were served, Jacqueline Loch, vice-president and publisher, women's group, St. Joseph Media, took to the stage to share important findings from Weddingbells' 2018 reader survey.
Editor-in-chief Alison McGill gave an inside look into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding including the location at Windsor Castle and the special locations and events happening there in honour of the upcoming union. She walked guests through the trends and styles Meghan Markle could be wearing on May 19th, and what to expect on the big day.
Guests enjoyed music by string quartet Concordo and posed for photos at the photobooth by Brand M3dia against a floral backdrop from Best Wedding Backdrops, and many snapped their own photos and hashtagged #WBRoyalTea for a chance to win jewellery from Links of London. When it came time to depart, guests took home goodie bags filled with royal wedding treats from Creative Bag Co., DAVIDsTEA, Finespun Cakes & Pastries, IKEA, Lindt Canada, and Springridge Farm.
