Once you’ve chosen your date, picking your wedding venue is the next most important thing on your ‘to do’ list. What are some things you should consider before selecting your venue? The most important criteria is that the space matches your style. Depending on your theme, you will want to select a wedding venue that offers up the same vibe. Next, think of the three W’s—who, when and where. The "who" refers to your guests and how many you plan to have. The "when" of course is your wedding date. The "where" is the location of your wedding venue in proximity to your ceremony location (if applicable). When you are wedding venue hunting, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Prepare a list and take them with you so you have all the answers you need about the space (ie. maximum guest count, liquor licenses, parking). You also need to bring along your budget numbers so you know exactly how much you are willing to spend on your wedding venue and see if costs are at all negotiable.
It just so happens that our summer travels took us to three of Canada’s chicest wedding venues—Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim, Toronto’s Soho Metropolitan Hotel and the Ritz-Carlton Montreal. Here we highlight why we think these spots are ideal wedding venue choices.
