My busy desk
With less than three months until my wedding day, there are still a few loose ends to wrap up. Like, for example, our entire cocktail reception. Oh, and the invitations. Fresh from the printers, we need to get stuffing those envelopes and get them out the door. Plus, at Weddingbells, we’re in the thick of our next issue (Spring & Summer 2011 is looking beautiful!) and shooting almost everyday. Needless to say, my schedule is hectic. So working out is hard to fit in right now (isn’t it always?). But here’s the thing: my Best Body Bootcamp sessions happen before my day starts. Before I loose track of time, miss my opportunity to hit the gym, and promise myself I’ll go the next day. It’s a vicious cycle that I often cannot break.
With week one under my belt, I am feeling energized and motivated to continue. Initially, the early mornings were tough. But I’ve adjusted to the schedule and my higher energy levels are making bootcamp days easier. Coffee helps, too. Heading into a new week, I meet Roger (my trainer/butt-kicker) for our Tuesday morning workout. I’m excited and ready to show off how well I know the routine and the improvements I’ve made (although I am still avoiding the suicide runs), such as better breakfasts (hello protein!), higher water intake and kick-ass cardio. Mid-warm up Roger comments on my improvements and I immediately request a gold-star. Surprisingly, stickers are not a regular part of bootcamp—but they should be. Happy with my trainer-props, I continue with my warm-up, ready to show him how well I can rock the routine. Sumo-squats here I come! Perhaps I was a little over-confident because it was at that moment that Roger turns to me and said, “So, are you ready for the new routine?” And so starts week two.
Who knew the routines changed weekly? Regardless, at this point I’m so impressed with myself and enjoying the workouts so much I’m already thinking about signing up for the next bootcamp; my workout life post-wedding (maybe it’s time to run again?); and continuing early morning workouts. For now, I have to keep my eye on the prize: my strapless dress debut on November 23rd! Not long now…
