Yesterday The Toronto Star published a great article on Toronto's trendiest cookie in town–the French macaron. Indeed it has been trendy, but not for many Parisians as it is their quintessential French sweet. If you ever head to Paris, I'm told Laduree is macaron mecca. And, if you've never tried one before, the best way I can describe this petite treat is that it has a light meringue-ish texture with sweet filling in the middle. I love the idea of seeing them used as favours (you can even have your cake designer customize them with your monogram) and as cake towers. However, if you are truly looking for a really unique way to showcase these decadent goodies, take a look at this white gorgeous window display by Bergdorf Goodman in December of 2008 in NYC. The macaron design is quite different, you can almost compare it to a topiary or lampshade. So pretty!
