Take a Mini-Break

  |  By Alison McGill
Take a Mini-Break

You know what I did this past weekend? I was a guest in my own city! I live about 40 minutes outside Toronto city limits and decided this weekend, I needed to check out of home and into a quiet, no-stress zone (it has been a crazy time at Weddingbells lately, and I just needed to get away). So the boyfriend and I packed up the show Saturday afternoon and took a short cruise down the highway to the historic Fairmont Royal York (fairmont.com) and voila…peace, serenity and pampering found. What did we do once there?

No.

Take a Mini-Break

Kicked back and enjoyed the hotel and all it had to offer—we never left the building until we departed for home on Sunday. We went to the spa, dined, slept and chilled, which is exactly what the doctor ordered. Sound like something you need, too? Sometimes life (especially when you are living through stressful times, like planning a wedding) can get a little too busy and a little too loud—that’s when you know it’s time to turn down the volume and take a break. Hotels are totally tuned into this with many, like the Fairmont Royal York, offering amazing weekend break packages, especially during the summer months. If you have a special place you like to escape to in your part of the country, I’d love to hear about it—bets are your suggestion will inspire a fellow bride-to-be to take a break from it all, right in her own backyard.
