I wanted to showcase an item in honour of Remembrance Day. And what could be better than a pretty poppy bouquet?
After doing much needed research (after all, the closest I’ve ever been to a real poppy are those plastic ones you buy from the veterans), I finally came upon Anemones—which are technically part of the poppy family. There’s about 120 of them ranging in various colours, heights and shapes. The most popular are the Anemone Coronaria (a.k.a. poppy anemone) which are similar to the red Remembrance Day poppies except a bit bigger.
Vintage Design Co. (vintagedesigncompany.com) located in the Niagara Region recently posted this beautiful pink bridesmaid bouquet filled with Ranunculi and Anemones. Tip: these poppies are in season during the month of May and June, so it’s best to get them when you can.
