An Ontario String Quartet For Ceremony Serenades

  |   By Jean Grant

Live music is one of those wedding touches where tradition often beats out the new and trendy. Allegra Strings has been playing together since 1994, when they formed a group in Kingston from members of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra. They recently relocated to Peterborough and will travel to the surrounding towns and cottage country for all kinds of celebrations. Couples can hire either a solo performer or a small ensemble (rates start at $100 per player) to play romantic classics by the likes of Handel, Mozart and Beethoven. You can listen to some tear-inducing samples, all recorded in one take to mimic an actual show, here. They also love to play songs from movies and plays—so if walking down the aisle to a string quartet’s rendition of Frozen’s “Let It Go” is your dream, they’re the people to call.
