Tammy Fernandes is a federal government interviewer with a seriously cool side hustle. After completing a certificate in interior design, she launched her company, Ballöom, about a year ago, with the goal of creating amazing memories for clients without breaking the bank. She was inspired by attending some epic parties abroad, and thought Montreal could step up its celebratory game—especially when it came to balloons. “No matter how bad your day is going, if you see a person with a balloon you’ll always smile,” Fernandes says. Now, she peddles festive custom balloons for occasions of all kinds, and can adorn them with tassels, pom-poms and fresh floral garlands.
Fernandes only uses the highest quality balloons for her work—they’re either 100 per cent latex or a recyclable mylar material (both made in Canada). In addition to inscribing massive, confetti-filled balloons with scrawling cursive, she’s also especially adept at creating inflatable installations that look super-chic and sophisticated (instead of slightly tacky). We love this pastel-hued table arrangement with metallic lavender accent balloons for a bridal shower or a dessert table at your wedding. Oh, and if you ever need a sparkly pink unicorn the size of a small child, you know who to call.
