Lovely Autumn

Lovely Autumn

Spread the Love labels from Etsy fit jam perserves bottle well!

I've always believed I was a summer time girl but as I get older I long for the crisp days of fall. The golden light of an autumn sun reminds me of my childhood on the farm, playing outside in the colourful piles of leaves, hanging on to the last few days of light before we're forced to come inside by the setting sun.

We considered a fall wedding but if you know me at all you know that I really dislike being cold. October can have some beautifully warm days but the chance of it being rainy and cold are far more likely than say August so, August it is! We like the month of August for a wedding because it's not the hottest month of summer, the flowers blooming then are so lovely and the local fruits and vegetables available to us will make a perfectly delightful menu.I think summer fresh peaches are better than any candy I've ever tasted and I've even been quoted saying, "If trapped on a desert island and I could only have one food, I'd want summer fresh peaches." The key words being 'summer fresh.' We've all had the mealy peach that's spent the duration of it's fresh picked life on a truck and then in a cooler for god knows how long and then on to it's debut, front row left of centre in the classic pyramid at your local grocer. They are under ripe or over ripe or just plain wrong. Poor little doodle peaches, they can't even be disguised in a clafoutis!

Lovely Autumn

So, I'm passionate about peaches. It will most certainly be one of the common themes at the wedding. Perhaps peach snaps shooters at midnight? Say that five times really fast. Or maybe peach-coloured vintage handkerchiefs hung near the ceremony entry way for the weepy folks who forget tissue.

Tyler and I have said over and over, we want this to be a party that we really enjoy so naturally we should surround ourselves with things we love. I recommend to those of us getting married to write a list of things we enjoy, from activities to favourite foods and we'll easily find ourselves a few themes worth incorporating on our wedding day.

The best place to start is with you.
