It wasn’t until last year that I discovered the meaning of letterpress stationery. And now that I’ve seen them first-hand, I am completely obsessed with them. For those of you that don’t know, letterpress is a beautiful printing technique, stemming from the 14th century, where the ink is raised.
Cecily Ink (cecilyink.com) specializes in letterpress sets and was asked to design the invitations (pictured left) for a style lounge party, which took place during the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. I really like the idea of the sending invites in a cute tin package with the stamps and labels on the front—it makes for a pretty package to be received in the mail, and this way you can ensure that your invitations aren’t bent or ripped in transition.
